Backpacking Equipment

The dogs carry their own gear, see the "Gear for the Samoyeds" section.

Footwear

The right footwear is very important! Bad fitting boots, wet or cold feet can make the trek miserable. Be sure to use the appropriate socks and footpowder as well as the proper boot for the activity. Always be sure to put about fifty miles on new boots before heading out into the boonies. Good break-in of new boots is imperative.

Miscellaneous Equipment and
Some "Nice To Have Equipment"

* We use these propane devices when we use the sled or when weight isn't an issue because of ease of use.

** We use this stove when weight is an issue. Gas stoves tend to work better in high alititude and freezing conditions than propane.
